Couples Therapy
Cultivating connection and repair — in San Francisco, Berkeley, and online
Most couples who come to see me aren’t short on love. They’re caught in a pattern — the same fight in different clothes, a distance that keeps growing, a hurt that never quite got repaired. By the time they reach out, each partner often feels unheard, and both are tired.
Cultivating Connection and Repair
Relationships can be powerful arenas for healing — and sometimes, for hurt. In couples work, I help partners slow down enough to truly hear and see each other, and to understand the patterns that keep them stuck.
Together, we focus on:
Building emotional safety and trust
Understanding underlying needs and attachment styles
Repairing ruptures and rebuilding connection
Navigating conflict in ways that deepen intimacy rather than erode it
Rather than only talking about your relationship, couples therapy with me invites you to experience each other differently — with more openness, vulnerability, and embodied connection.
This lived experience of connection becomes the soil where intimacy, trust, and mutual growth can take root and grow.
Is this a fit?
Couples therapy may help if you’re facing:
The same arguments again and again, with no real resolution
Emotional or physical distance, or a sense of living parallel lives
A breach of trust, including an affair, that you want to understand and repair
Big decisions or transitions — moving in, marriage, children, a move, a loss
Differences in desire, intimacy, or how you each handle stress
Uncertainty about the future of the relationship
How I work with couples
I’m an active presence in the room. When the familiar cycle starts, I’ll slow it down, help each of you name what’s actually happening underneath, and support you in responding to each other differently — right there in session. My work draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment work, and somatic awareness.
What to expect
A free 15-minute consultation call — either partner can reach out
Early sessions spent getting to know you both, your relationship’s story, and the cycle you get caught in
50- or 90-minute sessions; many couples find 90 minutes gives enough time to go deep and still leave feeling settled
$180 for 50 minutes or $300 for 90 minutes, with a sliding scale available

That’s common — one partner is often more ready than the other. A hesitant partner is welcome to join the consultation call and ask anything. Many people who arrive reluctant find couples therapy less blaming and more relieving than they expected. My job isn’t to decide who’s right.

Usually, yes. The work happens between you, so most sessions are joint. Early on, I may meet with each of you once on your own to understand your history. I’ll explain how I handle anything shared privately before we begin.
-
It varies. Emotionally Focused Therapy is designed to be relatively short-term — often somewhere around 8 to 20 sessions — though every couple’s pace is different, and deeper hurts can take longer to repair.
-
Yes. I work with couples of all orientations and relationship structures, married or not, at every stage — from early commitment to decades together.
